Get Help
Phone OCLS or submit a request form if you have struggled for 30 minutes without success. The OCLS librarians can suggest the most relevant databases, and usually can provide terms and techniques for successful research.
APA Answers
Your librarians are trained to answer APA questions. If possible, have your APA Publication Manual or APA 6e Guide at hand when you phone.
Journal Articles
Journal articles are a source of recent information. Many of the article databases provide a checkbox that limits search results to scholarly articles.
Button
Articles often are available in paper format years before they are available electronically in a database. If the "Fulltext" option is unchecked, information about articles which are not yet in the electronic database will be displayed. Some of these articles can be rapidly scanned and emailed, and these articles are followed by the button. Click the
button to learn if an article may possibly be emailed by the OCLS staff. more
Fulltext Availablity
Most article databases offer a "Fulltext" checkbox. Checking "Fulltext" only displays information about articles where the entire text of the article can be read immediately from the database being used.
Jackson Library Catalog
The library catalog lists the hundreds of thousands of books and e-books collected by Jackson Library and OCLS. Non-residential faculty and students have instant access to e-books, and may request that short portions of printed books be scanned and emailed. more
